Daniel Lanois For The Beauty Of Wynona on Limited Edition 180g LP
Throughout a storied career as a musician, producer and engineer, Daniel Lanois helped push the ambient genre forward into celestial new territory as Brian Eno's foremost protégé; he has recorded landmark albums for U2 and Peter Gabriel and helped to revitalize the sonic dimensions of Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Three albums produced or co-produced by Lanois have won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and four others received nominations.
Originally issued in 1993, For the Beauty of Wynona is Lanois' second solo album and follow-up to his 1989 debut Acadie. Lanois delivers a breezy and warm set here, with carefully crafted songs and beautiful arrangements, rhythms and soundscapes. Daniel explains, "This record was made at a time of stress in my life and so there is a built in tension in the music. I love the harmonies on The Messenger's spine chilling high notes sung by my friend Daryl Johnson." "The Messenger" and "Lotta Love to Give" were released as singles.
