Direct Hit Wasted Mind on LP
Sit back, take a deep breath, and prepare yourself for the huge trip Direct Hit has in store for you. This Milwaukee-based group has labored intensely over the last year, crafting their debut Fat Wreck Chords full-length, Wasted Mind. Inspired by the savage and warped sensibilities of William Burroughs' Naked Lunch and Hunter S. Thompson's Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, this 12-track concept album will take you on a sonic rollercoaster, reminiscent of a more concise and pointed version of Green Day's American Idiot. Produced by All-American Rejects guitarist Mike Kennerty, the album follows a cast of drug-addled, medicated and unpredictable characters who check in and out of reality with reckless abandon. Singer/guitarist/lyricist Nick Woods says "The record is less about chemical abilities and handicaps and more about identity, consciousness and relativity."
