Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory on 180g 2LP
Dream Theater have steadily achieved a startlingly sublime synthesis of soaring and unmistakable melody, progressive instrumentation and aggressive heaviness unrivaled within hard rock music. The legacy established throughout their virtuosic career of astounding aesthetic alchemy has made their very moniker synonymous with the power of talent, ability and momentum when brilliantly forged together.
Originally issued in 1999, Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory is Dream Theater's fifth studio effort and the conclusion of a concept which began with the track "Metropolis Part I: The Miracle and the Sleeper" from 1992's Images and Words. Told in two acts, the album tells the story of the 1928 murder of a woman by a man who is haunted by the crime. Home to the evocative singles "Home" and "Through Her Eyes," Metropolis Pt. 2 was voted as the No. 1 progressive rock album of all-time in a poll conducted by Rolling Stone in 2012, beating out Rush's 2112 and Yes' Close to the Edge.
