Erasure The Innocents (30th Anniversary Edition) on Limited Edition 180g Import LP
The celebration of Erasure's (Andy Bell and Vince Clarke) 30th anniversary continues in 2016 with the re-release of their first three classic albums - Wonderland (1986), The Circus (1987) and The Innocents (1988) - on heavyweight vinyl. Erasure are one of the UK's most enduring award-winning songwriting duos. Formed in 1985, the BRIT and Ivor Novello winning pair have released a staggering number of albums, including 5 UK No. 1's and 17 top 10 singles (35 singles charted in the UK Top 40). Caitlin Moran of The Times exclaimed, "Let's face it – there is nothing Kraftwerk did that Erasure didn't do better, for longer, and while wearing a blue sequinned cowboy hat and chaps."
By the time Erasure released their third album, The Innocents, in 1988, they had built up a devoted following and an impressive clutch of hit singles. Produced by Stephen Hague, The Innocents captured Vince and Andy's star in the ascendant; its huge pop sound and catchy choruses catapulting Erasure to super-stardom in their home country and giving them their long-awaited U.S. breakthrough. The Innocents heralded the beginning of a string of No. 1 albums for the band and went double platinum in the UK. It has gone on to sell over 5 million copies worldwide and is Erasure's best-selling album to date. The Innocents spawned three hit singles; "A Little Respect" (arguably their signature song), "Ship Of Fools' and "Chains Of Love."
Erasure would go on to become one of the most prolific songwriting duos of the '80s (and beyond); purveyors of perfect pop and an extraordinary live act to boot. Their partnership endures to this day and The Innocents was their commercial turning point. This reissue of Erasure's The Innocents has been remastered from the original vinyl masters so as to be as faithful as possible to the original release, and comes pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl with original artwork and packaging.
