Freddie Hubbard Straight Life on 180g LP from ORG Music

One of the most exciting trumpeters of all time, Freddie Hubbard was a powerhouse musician ranked with Lee Morgan as the most vital trumpet player of the 1960s and beyond. The excellent Straight Life (1971) was recorded at the height of his brilliant career in between his two CTI masterworks Red Clay (1970) and First Light (1971) and finds him in the trenches with such jazz royalty as Joe Henderson (tenor saxophone), Herbie Hancock (piano), George Benson (guitar), Ron Carter (bass) and Jack DeJohnette (drums). The economic 3-song set is chock full of classic soloing and every one is a winner. This 180g audiophile-grade vinyl reissue, which was mastered from the original tapes by Bernie Grundman and pressed at Pallas in Germany, shines new light on this underrated recording!
