Ten time Grammy award winning guitarist George Benson’s rich career really got under way during his long early-60s association with organist Jack McDuff. Benson’s very first album - 1964's The New Boss Guitar - was recorded during that period and finds him leading a quintet rounded out by McDuff (piano, organ), Red Holloway (tenor saxophone), Ronnie Boykins (bass) and Montego Joe (drums) in a promising 7-song set dominated by five of his own originals ("Shadow Dancers," "The Sweet Alice Blues," "I Don't Know," "Just Another Sunday," "Rock-A-Bye").
