1973 Smash Put Hard-Rock Band Over the Top: Title Track Simply Legendary
Mastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios & at Capitol Mastering w/ Ron McCaster
Produced By Todd Rundgren and Featuring Sharp, Taut, Immediate Playing
Produced by Todd Rundgren, and featuring tighter and sharper arrangements than any of their previous records, Grand Funk Railroad's We’re An American Band elevated the act to multi-platinum status and rose to the top of the charts. As both the anthem-like title track and album took off, more chart action unfolded with hits like "Walk Like A Man (You Can Call Me Your Man)." The smash album also included hard-hitting rockers like "Black Licorice," "The Railroad," and fan favorites like "Stop Looking Back."
Led by the dynamic lead guitar and vocals of the legendary Mark Farner, the incredible power drummer/vocalist Don Brewer, the thumping bass of Mel Schacher, and the arrival of new member Craig Frost on keyboards, the Grand Funk Railroad, with assistance from Todd Rundgren (Meat Loaf, Badfinger), scored one of the 1970s' true classics. The band kicked into a higher gear and never looked back.
Friday Music kicks off its Grand Funk Railroad 180 Gram Vinyl Series with the group's eternally beloved 1973 smash. Mastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and at Capitol Mastering with Ron McMaster, this limited-edition album is packaged in a super-cool gatefold cover with the original art elements.
