Hawkwind's impact and influence spans both decades and genres. Psychedelic '60s and hard rock '70s, the band's line-up has over time included Nick Turner, Robert Calvert, Simon House, Ginger Baker, Lemmy Kilmister, Alan Davey and leader/founder Dave Brock. The English outfit has inspired decades of highly respected musicians and their songs have been covered by artists large and small.
Levitation is an unorthodox but brilliant record Hawkwind originally released in 1980. It was the first studio album the band released after the departure of lead vocalist and lyricist Robert Calvert and lone studio effort with Ginger Baker. Brock explained that, "with Levitation we've come full circle back to the style of our debut album. And that was the record which totally expressed our ideals and what we stood for."
