Somewhere along the path of their current campaign supporting 2012's In Our Heads, the latest album from Hot Chip, something magical has happened. We’re reminded of New Order, on the cusp of unfathomable mainstream success, defying convention by filling outdoor amphitheaters without the aid of mainstream radio and MTV (okay with a little bit of help from Echo And The Bunnymen).
Hot off a feisty run that included the Ultra Festival, a crowning victory lap in NYC, Lollapalooza South America and two highly heralded sets at Coachella, Hot Chip have transformed into a festival monster, where every song they play feels like a lazer-guided crowdpleaser.
In celebration of that fact and as an exclamation point to what has been a fulfilling run with their finest album to date, they are releasing a mini-album that combines the new (upcoming UK single “Dark And Stormy”), the old (the tried and true live anthem of this campaign, “Flutes”) and the borrowed and blue (a bevy of killer remixes from Todd Terje, Sasha, Major Lazer and Daphni/Caribou). 12” vinyl includes full color jacket and MP3 download codes.
