Iron and Wine The Sea and Rhythm on Vinyl LP!
Sam Beam returns with a follow-up EP to last year’s acclaimed debut The Creek Drank the Cradle. The songs contained here have been culled from the same batch of bedroom recordings from which the first album sprang. The EP also serves as a precursor to Iron & Wine’s sophomore album, being recorded at Engine Studios in Chicago with Brian Deck (Ugly Casanova, Red Red Meat, Califone, Fruit Bats) behind the board and will be their first recordings with a full band. It will be out in early 2004.
Meanwhile, The Creek Drank the Cradle keeps on chugging along, having scanned in excess of 22,000 copies. A real life “grower” of a record, since it’s release in September 2002, Iron & Wine has garnered a fanbase that is literally growing by the day. The Creek Drank The Cradle is a word of mouth hit that is far from hitting it’s summit.
“Based in Miami, of all places, he launches balloons of sweetly whispered regret over trance-inducing backwoods string-band arrangements and watches them float away, his heart in tow…A-” Entertainment Weekly
