John Lodge 10,000 Light Years Ago on Limited Edition 180g LP
The Esoteric Antenna label is pleased to announce the release of 10,000 Light Years Ago, the superb new studio album from John Lodge of the Moody Blues. For over 40 years The Moody Blues have been one of the most enduring and consistent groups in the world. Their recorded legacy contains some of the most important and groundbreaking work in the history of popular music and they've generated over 55 million sales, earning them an enviable place in rock history.
As a member of The Moody Blues since 1966, John Lodge has written some of the most memorable songs for the band such as the hits "Ride My See Saw,” "The Eyes of a Child,” "Isn’t Life Strange,” "I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock & Roll Band),” "Steppin’ in a Slide Zone,” "Gemini Dream” (with Justin Hayward) and many more.
10,000 Light Years Ago is Lodge’s second solo album - (his first, Natural Avenue, was released in 1977 and was recently reissued by Esoteric Recordings) - and features some of the finest songs of his career. Recorded at various locations and completed at The Mix Factory studios in FL, the album features guest contributions from former Moody Blues members Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder plus legendary guitarist Chris Spedding among others, and is firmly rooted in the Moody Blues legacy.
From opener "In My Mind," and the biographical "Those Days in Birmingham," to the more reflective "Simply Magic" and "Lose Your Love," to the rock influenced "Crazy" and the jazz-tinged "Love Passed Me By," to the powerful "Get Me Out of Here," and the epic title track closer, John Lodge has painted a variety of moods here on a fine musical canvas.
