Julianna Barwick Florine EP on LP + Download
Julianna Barwick's second self-release, the 2009 Florine EP evolves and expands on the sound of her 2006 debut Sanguine, taking on an instrumental dimension with each of the six songs which are also significantly longer than any of those on her first offering. Several tracks employ the minimalist repetition technique of simple melodic patterns, with piano and synthesizer to accompany her vocal layers.
"Barwick's work can't help but recall Brian Eno's Music for Airports. Even so, Florine feels bracingly intimate and original, in its hieroglyphic way." - Pitchfork
"Dizzying and beautiful at once, it is unlike anything else from 2009." - Dusted
