Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Keith Urban is one of country music's biggest superstars and most talented musicians. His well earned reputation as a premier songwriter, vocalist, musician and virtuoso guitarist ranks him among the music industry's elite no matter the genre.
2010's Get Closer, his sixth full-length effort overall, was inspired by the 2010 Nashville, TN floods which destroyed a number of Urban's prized instruments. "It certainly took me out of my comfort zone," Urban explained to NPR. "There's something quite liberating about it, too...Not having all my instruments to reach for was creatively liberating. It allowed everything to be spontaneous and fresh."
Released on the heels of five consecutive platinum or multi-platinum releases, Urban turned lemons into lemonade with Get Closer, churning out yet another accessible country-pop hybrid, propelled by the three consecutive No. 1 singles "You Gonna Fly," "Long Hot Summer" and "Without You."
