Miles Davis Doo-Bop on 180g Import LP
Miles Davis' final studio album, 1992's Doo-Bop finds the music master still exploring and redefining the boundaries of genre with a hip hop/jazz crossover collaboration with hip hop/R&B producer Easy Mo Bee (Big Daddy Kane, Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac). Recommended to Miles by Russell Simmons, Easy Mo Bee laid down the rich musical backdrops which include samples of Kool and the Gang, James Brown and KC & the Sunshine Band, which Davis would in turn solo over. Miles recorded six tracks for the album before his death in September 1991 with the cuts "High Speed Chase" and "Fantasy" finished posthumously by Easy Mo Bee. Doo-Bop was recognized with a 1993 Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance and serves as a worthy and fitting parting release from one of music's biggest innovators.
