PJ Harvey The Wheel on 45RPM 7" Vinyl
"The Wheel" is the lead single from double Mercury prize winner PJ Harvey's ninth studio album The Hope Six Demolition Project pressed here on 45rpm 7" vinyl. The new record draws on several journeys undertaken by the enigmatic artist, who spent time in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. over a four-year period. A heavy ballad, "The Wheel" is centered around Harvey's journey to Kosovo and named after a fairground wheel in Fushe Kosove/Kosovo Polje near the capital Pristina.
"When I'm writing a song I visualize the entire scene. I can see the colors, I can tell the time of day, I can sense the mood, I can see the light changing, the shadows moving, everything in that picture," says Harvey. "Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with."
