Rotting Christ Theogonia on Limited Edition Colored 180g LP
In combining metal and cultural heritage, Rotting Christ remain true to the black metal roots of their founding in 1987. The Greek band was formed in the year 1987 by singer and guitarist Sakis Tolis, bassist Jim "Mutilator" Patsouris and drummer Themis Tolis. At first the trio played a roaring mixture of death metal and grind.
2007's Theogonia (Greek for "Birth of the gods") served as the black metal veteran's ninth full-length studio effort overall and first album for Seasons of Mist after nearly a decade with Century Media. The group remained faithful to their ancient blackened-gothic style here while materializing as a faster, more aggressive entity.
The established melodies of the past are indeed alive but this new apparition is cloaked with deeper atmospheric and epic elements as they recall the sordid history of their country land. A massive hit, this rare gem yielded the band their highest accolades from both critics and fans alike.
Rotting Christ's most recent trio of records on Season of Mist - Theogonia (2007), Aealo (2010) and Kata Tom Daimona Eaytoy (2013) - are now being offered on glorious 180-gram vinyl for North American fans.
