Sean McCaul Midnight At The Purple Palace on LP
Studio Debut from NYC Vibraphonist/Composer
Vibraphonist Sean McCaul is a highly accomplished New York City based musician and composer. Sean has performed and recorded with many notable artists, such as Philip Glass & Yo Yo Ma (Sony Classical), Dean & Britta (Jet Set Records), Lucy Woodward (Verve Records), and Shilpa Ray (Northern Spy Records). Sean has played all over New York, and has established himself as one of the city's finest mallet percussionists. As such, he has amassed a cult following along the way.
Midnight At The Purple Palace is Sean's first studio album. The record premieres nine original works, as well as a solo vibraphone arrangement of Chopin's, "Prelude in E minor" ("Freddy's Prelude"). On Midnight, Mr. McCaul is accompanied Dave Johnsen (Grandmothers of Invention, Mahavishnu Project, Adam Holzman's Brave New World) on bass, Jordan Shapiro (Project/Object) on guitar and accordion, and Phil Kester (Gongzilla, Pointless Orchestra) on drums.
The record was engineered and mixed by Al Carlson (Ducktails, Oneohtrix Point Never, Woods). Sean McCaul is as technical and skilled as he is whimsical and psychedelic. Thus, Midnight At The Purple Palace, like all true beauties, entices and endears with the dichotomies it strikes.
