Sherwood At The Controls Volume 1 (1979-1984) - Various Artists on 2LP
Producer, remixer, and undisputed patriarch of the British dub collective/record label On-U Sound, Adrian Sherwood has long been regarded as one of the most innovative and influential artists in contemporary dance and modern reggae music. His talent for creating musical space, suspense, sensations and textures have enabled him to pioneer a distinctive fusion of dub, rock, reggae and dance that challenges tradition not only in roots circles, but also in the pop world at large.
Over his 30 year career, Sherwood has produced and collaborated with the likes of Lee Scratch Perry, Little Annie, Depeche Mode, Asian Dub Foundation, Sinéad O'Connor and Einstürzende Neubauten to name but a few. Following on from his early-2015 collaborative release with Pinch, Late Night Endless, the 2LP comp Sherwood At The Controls Volume 1 (1979-1984) brings together some of Sherwood's name making early works as producer and remixer. Highlights include The Fall's "Middle Mass," Prince Far I's "Nuclear Weapon" and African Head Charge's "In A Trap."
