Snoop Lion Reincarnated on 180g 2LP
New Reggae Album and Musical Companion Piece to the Documenatary Film of the Same Name from Snoop Dogg
Reincarnated is the forthcoming RCA Records reggae album from Snoop Lion formerly known as the-one-and-only Snoop Dogg. A musical companion to the Vice Films/Snoopadelic Films documentary of the same name, Reincarnated was produced by Diplo and production team Major Lazer and recorded in Jamaica. Includes the well received lead single "La La La" and follow-up singles “Here Comes The King,” featuring Angela Hunte and "Lighters Up" featuring Mavado and Popcaan.
Snoop Dogg went to Jamaica in 2012 on a spiritual journey and ended up changing his name to Snoop Lion, immersing himself in Rastafari culture, and recording a reggae album - a long way from being one of the figureheads of the most violent era in hip hop. Snoop on his new musical direction, “I feel like I’ve always been Rastafari, I just didn’t have my third eye open.”
Snoop adds, "Major Lazer and I had a special opportunity to focus on recording Reincarnated from top-to-bottom with no interruptions in Jamaica. From my time spent with the people and in the streets, these songs are based on peace, love, and the struggle...Bless up."
Snoop Lion is the new moniker of multi-platinum artist and entertainment icon, Snoop Dogg, whose ability to stay at the forefront of popular culture and new technology has resulted in unwavering relevance. Snoop Lion, in conjunction with Vice Media and Stampede Management, are set to release Reincarnated, the multi-media project capturing Snoop’s exploration of reggae music and spiritual growth.
The project includes a reggae-influenced album executive produced by Diplo and Major Lazer, a feature-length documentary of Snoop's journey and career which premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews, a photo book, and a self-sustainable gardening initiative named Mind Gardens.
