Steve Earle And The Dukes The Hard Way on 180g LP
1990 Fourth Album Cut from the Original Masters & Pressed on 180g Vinyl!
A protégé of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Steve Earle quickly became a master storyteller in his own right, with his songs being recorded by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, The Pretenders, Joan Baez and countless others. 1986 saw the release of his breakout debut, Guitar Town, which shot to No. 1 on the country charts and immediately established the term "New Country."
What followed was an extremely exciting and varied array of releases including Earle's second album crediting his backing road band The Dukes and fourth overall, 1990's The Hard Way. In the throes of addiction, Earle has been quoted as saying, "I defend The Hard Way to the death, because I almost died in the process of making it," and this is reflected wholeheartedly in the album's darker, unflinching themes no better than on standouts like "Billy Austin," "Have Mercy" and "West Nashville Boogie."
