Steve Winwood's voice has always granted him the advantage of instant recognition; add to this a musicianship that has been employed in dozens of incarnations over the past five decades, and the result is a prodigious talent that runs like a vein of gold through rock music. Originally released in 1982, Talking Back To The Night is Winwood's follow-up to breakout solo effort Arc of a Diver and it shares quite a few similarities. It served as his third ever solo album and second with Will Jennings as a co-songwriter. With exception to Nicole Winwood on some backup vocals, Winwood played, produced and engineered the entire eight track collection himself. The big hit here is of course "Valerie." Reissued on 180g vinyl.
