The Flaming Lips At War With The Mystics on 180g 2LP
Mastered by Stan Ricker & Pressed at RTI
Cosmic, consciousness-expanding and mind-shattering, 2006's At War With The Mystics is the Flaming Lips' Grammy award winning follow-up to their 2002 masterwork Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots which brings together the expressiveness of their most acclaimed albums with the heaviness, volume and intensity of the band's experimental earlier work. At War With The Mystics is personal, political, psychedelic, and powerful pop. Produced by Dave Fridmann, the 12-song set took home a pair of 2007 Grammy awards for Best Engineered Album Non-Classical and Best Rock Instrumental Performance for "The Wizard Turns On..."
After lauded indie albums, The Flaming Lips debuted on Warner Bros. in 1991 with the masterful Hit To Death In The Future Head. In 1994, “She Don’t Use Jelly” from Transmissions From The Satellite Heart became an unlikely pop hit. 1995's Clouds Taste Metallic led to a year of touring. 1999’s The Soft Bulletin topped an avalanche of year-end best-of lists and helped rank the band among the most influential in the world. 2002’s Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots became The Flaming Lips’ best-selling and most widely acclaimed album with "Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon (Utopia Planitia)" winning a Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental.
"...the Lips have done it: three astonishing albums in a row. This marks the first occasion since the ‘Berlin trilogy’ that an artist has climaxed with albums 10, 11 and 12 of their career." - Paul Lester, Uncut
