The Manhattan Transfer Vocalese on 180g LP

Exhibit Records Audiophile Series Release Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio & Pressed at RTI

Critically Acclaimed 1985 Album Nominated for 12 Grammy Awards!

The Manhattan Transfer's most critically acclaimed album. It received 12 Grammy nominations, making it second only to Michael Jackson's Thriller as the most nominated individual album. The album's title Vocalese refers to a style of music that sets lyrics to previously recorded jazz instrumental pieces and replaces many instruments with vocalists (such as the big band arrangements of Duke Ellington and Count Basie).

The vocals reproduce the sound and feel of the original instrumentation. Jon Hendricks, proficient in this art, composed all of the lyrics for this album. Vocalese received Grammy Awards for "Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Duo or Group" and "Best Vocal Arrangements for Voices" for Cheryl Bentyne and Bobby McFerrin for their arrangement of "Another Night In Tunisia."

Exhibit Records produces remastered versions of classic recordings from all eras. It's been famously stated, "...there's only two kinds of music, good or bad" and Exhibit subscribes to this Duke Ellington analyses. They work from the best available original masters and their recordings are remastered by highly regarded engineers who have provided many of the best sounding new and reissued recordings over the years.

Their graphics honor the evocative and intriguing nature of the original artwork and occasionally include additional liner notes, historical information and fresh images. The packages are designed by award winning graphic artists and art directors. Their deluxe gatefold and single record jackets are manufactured by state-of-the-art printers using durable, thick cardboard and luxurious finishes. The vinyl is secured in top-quality inner sleeves.
