Thelonious Monk The London Collection, Volume 2 on 180g LP from ORG Music
Mastered from the Original Analog Tapes by Bernie Grundman / Pressed at Pallas Group in Germany
London Collection, Volume 2 is the second installment of jazz luminary Thelonious Monk’s historic final recording session as a band leader. Captured in London during the Giants of Jazz tour, the trio recording finds bassist Al McKibbon and drummer Art Blakey backing up the idiosyncratic pianist as they perform eight original Monk compositions including singular standouts "Evidence," "Criss Cross," "Nutty" and "Hackensack." The album was remastered from the original analog tapes by Grammy award winner Bernie Grundman for its first vinyl pressing in over 27 years for Record Store Day 2015 and now sees a wide release on 180 gram audiophile-grade black vinyl courtesy of ORG Music.
