Thom Chacon Thom Chacon on 200g LP + Download
Thom Chacon is a young troubadour, a balladeer with extraordinary imagery who lives in Durango, Colorado. He's a natural storyteller whose granddad rode in the posse that went after Billy The Kid! Chacon has traversed the world playing his songs, eschewing modern trappings for the more organic mode of harmonica, the strum of his acoustic, his laid-back delivery and his poetry.
He’s toured all over the world to the kind of powerful reception that even he himself is astounded by. On the west coast, he opened for singer/songwriter Jason Mraz. In India, opening for superstar Lucky Ali, the reception was as strong as it was in Thailand, and as strong as it was within the confines of Folsom Prison where he also performed. “That Folsom Prison gig was a life-changing experience,” he remembers. “I left the prison that day knowing I would make a change in my life.”
His new self-titled release and follow-up to 2009's Live at Folsom Prison and 2010's Featherweight Fighter was recorded in true analog with producer Perry Margouleff and most every song on the 12-song set was done in one take. The album was recorded with the help of Tony Garnier and George Receli, Bob Dylan's rhythm section.
