Deutsche Grammophon is pleased to reissue five legendary recordings from one of the most iconic conductors of the 20th century, Herbert von Karajan, back on glorious vinyl. All five classic titles are newly presented in 180-gram heavyweight vinyl pressings made at Optimal. As DG's conductor-in-chief after signing a new exclusive contract in 1959, Karajan made some 330 records for the Yellow Label, mostly with his favored Berlin Philharmonic. He was associated with speed and dynamism throughout his trailblazing career which a Salzburg critic once described as, "...like being attached to a high-tension line and having 40,000 volts shot through us." This outstanding release includes Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E Minor Op. 64 recorded with the steadfast Berlin Philharmonic.
