Original Soundtrack to the Oscar-nominated 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory adapted from Roald Dahl's 1964 novel which tells the timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir. The movie's producers were trying for a musical along the lines of Mary Poppins or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which could appeal to both children and adults. They got more than they bargained for, in an immensely tuneful score by Leslie Bricusse with fantasy-laced lyrics by Anthony Newley wrapped up in a film that appealed to the more worldly perceptions of children and to adults who recalled that side of themselves.
