Witchfynde Give 'Em Hell on LP
The NWOBHM represented the essence of heavy metal act Witchfynde perfectly - raw, basic power and energy coupled with self-promotion. The movement complemented the punk rock explosion which was happening at the same time with both seen as a reaction against the domination of the music business by major record labels.
Constant gigging during the late-70's helped the band self-finance the recording of their debut Give 'Em Hell. Witchfynde took note of the success of Def Leppard's Gretcha Rocks Off EP and used the same studio - Fairview in Hull. Featuring the blistering cuts "Unto the Ages of the Ages" and "Leaving Nadir," Give 'Em Hell was released at the beginning of 1980 to coincide with a supporting slot on Def Leppard's first major UK tour. It propelled the band into a higher league virtually overnight and led to follow-up dates with Iron Maiden, Motorhead and Saxon.
This vinyl pressing from Back On Black includes the three bonus tracks - "The Devil's Gallop," "Tetelestai" and "Wake Up Screaming" - from the 2004 re-release of the album.
