Witchfynde Stage Fright on LP
The NWOBHM represented the essence of heavy metal act Witchfynde perfectly - raw, basic power and energy coupled with self-promotion. The movement complemented the punk rock explosion which was happening at the same time with both seen as a reaction against the domination of the music business by major record labels. After breaking out with their self-financed 1980 debut Give 'Em Hell which lead to supporting slots for Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Motorhead and Saxon, Witchfynde returned with their sophomore effort Stage Fright later the same year. Viewed as their most experimental release to date, the band implements different approaches and studio techniques here resulting in a varied affair highlighted by fan favorites like the title cut and "Moon Magic."
