GEORGE HARRISON
George Harrison's post-Beatles solo career saw him become the first member of the band to have a #1 single ("My Sweet Lord") and #1 album, with the multiplatinum classic All Things Must Pass. Alongside his solo recording career, Harrison's generosity, combined with an incredible imagination, prompted him to spearhead numerous innovative projects, including one of the world's first music benefit show, The Concert for Bangladesh; the founding of his record label, Dark Horse Records, home to his own music as well as other musicians, including his good friend Ravi Shankar; working as a producer for his movie company, Handmade Films, which produced classics such as Withnail and I, Monty Python's Life of Brian, Time Bandits, and more; as well as spearheading the Traveling Wilburys, the supergroup that included Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne.
A two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Harrison also set-up the Material World Foundation. Taking its name from his 1973 album, Living in the Material World, the foundation was set-up to encourage the exploration of alternate and diverse forms of artistic expression, life views, and philosophies, as well as a way to support established charities and people with special needs.
The 50th anniversary editions of George Harrison's masterpiece All Things Must Pass have been completely remixed from the original tapes by Grammy-winning engineer Paul Hicks. The 8LP edition offers 70 tracks (42 of which are previously unreleased), compiling demo recordings, session outtakes, and studio jams. The set's elegant 60-page scrapbook was curated by Olivia Harrison. All the anniversary editions (3LP, 5LP, 3CD, and 5CD + Blu-ray) are packaged with a replica of the original album poster.
