Tubular Bells is the debut studio album by British musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1973. A groundbreaking instrumental work, it blends progressive rock, classical, folk, and electronic elements, featuring a mesmerizing structure built around layered melodies and shifting moods. The album gained widespread recognition when its opening theme was used in The Exorcist (1973), propelling it to commercial success. It was also the first release on Richard Branson’s Virgin Records, playing a key role in the label’s rise. Tubular Bells remains a landmark in progressive and ambient music.
