Since its release over 30 years ago, Pantera's breakthrough 1990 major label debut Cowboys From Hell has become one of the most iconic metal records of all time. The acclaimed and often imitated affair served as the official debut of the legendary Pantera lineup with singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul and bassist Rex Brown. It was also Pantera's first collaboration with producer Terry Date (Soundgarden, Slayer, Deftones, White Zombie) and saw the band introducing their much heavier signature sound. Upon Cowboys From Hell's release (and soon after unsuspecting fans took a gander at the band's take-no prisoners live shows), songs like the album's title track and "Cemetary Gates" helped Pantera to swiftly join America's pantheon of great heavy metal bands.
