The English Beat, also known as The Beat in the UK, is a British ska band formed in Birmingham in 1978. Their music is characterized by a fusion of ska, pop, soul, reggae, and punk rock elements, which contributed to their unique sound and widespread appeal.

Led by vocalist Dave Wakeling and guitarist Andy Cox, The English Beat gained popularity during the late 1970s and early 1980s with hits like "Mirror in the Bathroom," "Save It for Later," and "Tears of a Clown."
