Neil Young and Crazy Horse Live at Fillmore East on 180g Vinyl LP from Reprise
Neil Young and Crazy Horse's Legendary 1970 Electric Set at the Fillmore East Featuring Danny Whitten on Guitar: Debut Release from Young's Performance Series Archives
Fans of Neil Young & Crazy Horse waited 36 years to hear the band on record live with original leader Danny Whitten, the talented guitarist who was lost to a heroin overdose in 1972, and this incredible collection of well-produced and well-performed live tracks performed at the Fillmore East is well worth the wait.
The first live release from Young’s personal archives, 1970's Live at Fillmore East also happened to feature Miles Davis on the same bill no less and was only heard on various bootleg versions before this release. On tour in support of the album Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere, the recording features Young backed by Crazy Horse plus renowned arranger and future collaborator, Jack Nitzsche on piano.
Live at Fillmore East includes an extended "Down By The River," a 16-minute "Cowgirl In The Sand," country barnburner "Come On Baby Let's Go Downtown" which would later be heard on 1975's Tonight's the Night and the countrified folk-rocker "Winterlong" which appeared in studio form on the Decade collection.
