Guided by vocalist Maynard James Keenan (Tool) and guitarist Billy Howerdel (Ashes Divide), A Perfect Circle's third studio album eMOTIVe is primarily a collection of anti-war cover songs issued in November 2004 to coincide with the US presidential election. Debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, eMOTIVe mixes a pair of new tracks with nuanced covers of material by John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Nick Lowe, Black Flag, Depeche Mode, Devo, Fear, and Joni Mitchell among others. eMOTIVe would serve as the band's last until 2018's Eat the Elephant.
