Play your SACDs, CDS, music from USB drives — as well as stream Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, and NAS content — with the Shanling SCD1.3 SACD player. Equipped with a flagship AKM AK4499EX/AK4191 DAC system, SCD1.3 uses a precision-based volume control and MUSES8920 as the preamplifier section and can therefore be mated with power amplifiers or active speakers for a simple, go-to system. Advanced I2S support and on-board digital inputs also mean that you can hook SCD1.3 to a superior external DAC now or in the future. A dedicated FPGA circuit furthers its flexibility. 

Controlled by way of a five-inch touchscreen and powered by the Ingenic X2000 platform, the 14.5-pound SCD1.3 touts the latest iteration of Shanling’s Touch system that offers you excellent speed, accurate responsiveness, and an easy-to-operate user interface. It also unlocks the device’s wireless capabilities, which extend to Bluetooth 5.0 that supports LDAC, aptX HD, AAC, and SBC along with Wi-Fi connectivity. Want to listen privately? SCD1.3 even touts an audiophile-grade headphone output with a TPA6120 headphone amplifier.  

On the disc side, SCD1.3’s tray-style mechanism uses a MediaTek ME1389EE system in cooperation with an HD870 laser unit (produced in a former Sanyo factory) to render what’s on your discs in smooth, warm, detailed fidelity — and project it with large, accurate soundstages. And when it comes to high-resolution playback, SCD1.3 supports up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512. Just connect it to a computer, tap its XMOS XU316 USB input, or plug your USB stick directly into the front-panel port. 

Sold with a remote control, the 3.8 x 11 x 11-inch (HWD) SCD1.3 can also be commanded via a companion app. A pair of balanced XLR outputs accompany I2S, coaxial, and optical digital outputs — as well as a pair of RCA outputs. Measured with off-the-charts specs, SCD1.3 is a fantastic digital addition to any setup.
