Hear music with newfound precision, faithfulness, and tonal balance with the Yamaha NS-600A bookshelf speakers. Playing with exceptional cohesiveness, clarity, and naturalism, this-two design is inspired by the performance and appearance of the company’s world-famous grand pianos — and touts the signature high-gloss finish to reinforce its status as an instrument of its own right. 

Featuring a newly developed “Harmonious Diaphragm” comprised of Zylon and spruce, NS-600A produces a wonderfully unified tone and large soundstage. Playing vocals and instruments with rich harmonic character and correct pitch , NS-600A boasts a 5.125-inch cone woofer and 1.25-inch dome tweeter — the latter augmented on the back by patented Resonance Suppression chambers that help  convey those valuable fine nuances in everything from chamber fare to electronic compositions. Two specially shaped tubes cancel unwanted resonance generated behind the diaphragm, both revitalizing and maintaining the original sound.

Though you might not know given the unique construction is concealed, the NS-600A cabinet incorporates state-of-the-art design technology involving laser vibrometers (a tool essential in musical instrument research and development) and Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. The cross piece of the cabinet is also been reinforced. And while most speakers use a large amount of sound-absorbing material to eliminate standing waves inside the cabinet, NS-600A employs Yamaha’s patented Acoustic Absorber tube to eliminate standing waves while minimizing the amount of absorbing material so that the original realism of the performance comes across with full energy and dynamism.

Other high-end touches extend to the use in the crossover of German-made Mundorf MCap Supreme Classic capacitors and a huge woofer coil; a Twisted Flare Port that reduces air flow around the port and lends to tighter bass responsiveness; and robust, finger-friendly brass speaker terminals. Measuring 15.125 x 8.125 x 12 inches (HWD) and weighing 21.8 pounds each, NS-600A sports an 85.5dB sensitivity rating and looks incredible on the optional custom-designed SPS-800A stands.
