VAN HALEN

Eddie Van Halen. David Lee Roth. Alex Van Halen. Michael Anthony. Together, they achieved musical immortality. The California-based band rose above their peers, thanks to immaculate recordings, technically brilliant musicianship, instantly hummable melodies, and dazzling showmanship. The six albums that this quartet recorded inspired thousands of kids around the world to pick up an instrument and pursue their own artistic expression. Yes, there were other Van Halen lineups and huge commercial triumphs in later years, but the band's classic era of 1978 – 1984 is one that will live forever in the hearts and minds of fans who were there — and younger generations of fans who wish they had been there.

Van Halen's self-titled 1978 debut album did more than announce the arrival of a revolutionary guitarist. It injected fresh energy into the rock 'n' roll scene, reimagined how heavy music and infectious hooks could coexist, and invited everyone to experience the pleasures of a beachfront Saturday night every day of the week — no matter where they lived. This 10-times-platinum landmark album features "Runnin' with the Devil," a killer rendition of "You Really Got Me," and Eddie Van Halen's mind-blowing guitar solo on the instrumental masterpiece "Eruption."

This classic album is part of Mobile Fidelity's Van Halen catalog reissue series, with each title offered as an UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP Box. It was mastered from the original analog tapes, pressed at RTI on MoFi SuperVinyl, and is limited to 15,000 numbered copies.
