Embrace Old-School High-End Values with the Musical Fidelity B1xi: 60Wpc Integrated Amplifier Features Separate Digital and ARC Boards, Preamp Section with Dedicated Power Supply, MM Phonostage, and Much More
Musical Fidelity didn’t design the B1xi integrated amplifier to win fashion contests. The veteran audio company built it to deliver rich, warm, natural sound and operate with dependable reliability to help you enjoy music with engaging emotionalism — at a price that doesn’t break the bank. Outputting a solid 60Wpc into eight ohms (100Wpc into eight ohms), the 15.9-pound rig is loaded with audiophile-grade features that make a huge difference when it comes to music reproduction.
To wit: A high-efficiency mains filter, standby-mode power-supply unit, low-noise preamplifier section, and isolated linear power supply for digital complement a low-noise toroidal transformer, decoupled and fully regulated preamplifier power supply, generously rated power-amp supply, and fully discrete Class A/B power amplifier to play with a wide dynamic range, maintain signal integrity, and keep distortion down to an absolute minimum. Indeed, the separate digital boards ensure that ruinous RF interference stays away, while the ESS9018-based DAC is implemented in a way that further crushes noise.
Able to drive speakers with ease and accuracy, B1xi takes care of you when it comes to connectivity. An MM phonostage, coaxial and digital inputs, ARC, Bluetooth 5.1, and three RCA line inputs abet a variable RCA pre-out for a subwoofer or bi-amping just as a 5V USB-C output invites you to hook up an external streamer. Located at the center of the front panel, an analog motor-driven volume potentiometer gives you the levels you want and control you deserve.
In addition to a fancy touchscreen display or attention-getting aesthetics, there’s one other thing you won’t get on B1xi: WiFi. As well as a control app. Musical Fidelity intentionally eschewed any such built-in streaming due to both the cost involved to do it right and the fact a majority of all-in-one solutions take shortcuts to make it happen. Instead, B1xi goes all in on the quality and hardware — mechanics, circuits, transformers, amplifiers, layout — that best serves your music. No wonder the engineers spent a year improving the layout of the circuity to match the boards in relation to the transformer, and just as long to hand-select the individual components.
Housed in a fully metal chassis and completed with an extruded aluminum front panel and robust metal controls, B1xi personifies old-school high-end values. For more information, simply reach out to us at 312-433-0200.
"While retaining the original’s Class AB topology, the new B1xi integrated amplifier is a modern interpretation of the 1980s icon, with an improved power supply and re-engineered circuit design now including a USB digital input."
