To record the follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut album, Everything Is Fine, Texas based Dark Americana artist Danny Kiranos aka Amigo The Devil hunkered down at Modern Electric Sound Recorders in Dallas with producer Beau Bedford (also leader of The Texas Gentlemen) to capture the brutal honesty and somber atmosphere that has become a benchmark for his sound. In a time where an apocalypse feels more like reality than a biblical passage, Born Against captures perfectly the beauty and chaos of his experience.

The singer/songwriter discussed the influences and headspace of his latest effort: "Every new record is an opportunity to sit and think about how much has changed in your life and the world around you. It's a new opportunity to bring in both new and old influences. I really wanted to dive into ideas that I'd either been avoiding or ignoring within myself and figure out ways to align them with music I grew up listening to. Influences that may have been set aside in our older recordings, like Tom Waits, Fiona Apple, Taraf de Haïdouks and Demis Roussos... the pulse of Leonard Cohen's stories... the crooning and raw heart of Selda Bagcan... just to name a few. While the record may not sound like these artists directly, I tried to explore their abilities to create these incredible visuals through songs and whether or not it was done successfully. I walked away with a new appreciation and deeper understanding for writing honestly and with purpose."

"Another Man’s Grave" is Born Against's opening salvo which finds Kiranos lamenting the trials and tribulations of the human condition over a swelling orchestral crescendo. “This is very much a coming to terms song. It’s the realisation that the habits and routine we’ve been living, the behaviours and outlook displayed, aren’t true to the person that we know exists somewhere within,” explains Kiranos. “It’s about the purgatory-like time between accepting this and the moment we truly decide to do something about it. It’s about the fear and self-doubt that keep us believing we aren’t strong enough to be the person we genuinely know we are, whether it’s because of social pressure, trauma, addiction or any combination of circumstances that keep us stuck in a grave we know we don’t belong in.”
