Cathedral have been credited with leading a resurgence of interest in the doom metal scene, previously a very underground phenomenon using early Black Sabbath and occult 70's rock as its blueprint. Formed in the early 90's, the band brought together Lee Dorrian (vocals, ex-Napalm Death) and Garry ‘Gaz' Jennings (ex-Acid Reign) with the former going from the world's fastest band to arguably the slowest. Originally released in 1993, The Ethereal Mirror is the project's classic second album which has gone on to seminal status amongst fans and press alike and earned a coveted induction into Decibel Magazine's Hall Of Fame who wrote, "...tracks like "Enter the Worms" and "Fountain of Innocence" offer up a novel take on doom that, really, hasn't been rivaled since this album dropped.
