Donny Hathaway Extension Of A Man on 180g LP

Donny Hathaway will forever be known as one of the leading voices of the 70’s soul renaissance and truly one of the more championed songwriters during his short lifetime. Much like Ray Charles, Otis Redding, and other superstars before him, Donny had the necessary ingredients of a stellar voice/musicianship and songwriting acumen which successfully reached across all gospel, soul, rock and pop genres.

1973's Extension of a Man is the music great's enterprising final studio album. Produced by Arif Mardin, the 10-song swan song is comprised of a handful of Hathaway originals like orchestral opener "I Love the Lord; He Heard My Cry (Parts I & II)" and prized compositions "Someday We'll All Be Free" and "Come Little Children" to go along with well conceived covers of tracks like the J.R. Bailey/Ken Williams charting single "Love, Love, Love." Also includes notable appearances by a young Stanley Clarke (bass) and Fred White (drums), brother of Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice White, among many others.
