Originally released in 1971, Pictures at an Exhibition is the legendary live album by English progressive rock titans, Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Based on the group’s enthusiastic interpretation of the famous work by Russian composer, Modest Mussorgsky, the album has been credited with inspiring many young musicians to embrace and study classical music. Recorded on March 21, 1971 at Newcastle City Hall.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer was a British progressive rock supergroup formed in 1970, consisting of keyboardist Keith Emerson, vocalist/bassist/guitarist Greg Lake, and drummer Carl Palmer. Known for their virtuosic musicianship, complex compositions, and elaborate live shows, ELP were pioneers in blending classical music with rock, creating a dramatic and theatrical sound.
