Full Details
Eric Dolphy Far Cry Prestige Stereo Reissue Series: 180g LP Cut from the Original Analog Master Tapes by Kevin Gray and Pressed at Quality Record Pressings
Saxophonist and flutist Eric Dolphy and trumpeter Booker Little made a handful of recordings from 1960-1961, shortly before Little's own premature death. The first of those sessions is collected on 1960's Far Cry, which in addition to the dream pairing of Dolphy and Little, features Jaki Byard (piano), Ron Carter (bass) and Roy Haynes (drums).
Charlie Parker's influence is distinctly felt throughout the proceedings from conclusive cuts like "Mrs. Parker of K.C. (Bird's Mother)" and "Ode To Charlie Parker" to the restless spirit that permeates the material and particularly Dolphy's performances. Also includes both the debut of Dolphy's "Miss Ann" and his first recorded solo alto sax performance on "Tenderly."
Part of the audiophile Prestige stereo reissue series from Analogue Productions featuring 25 of the most collectible, most audiophile-sounding Rudy Van Gelder recordings ever made. Mastered from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray and cut at 33 1/3 at Quality Record Pressings. Plated by Gary Salstrom. Tip-on jackets on thick cardboard stock.
