Joanna Newsom Ys on 2LP
Singer/songwriter/harpist Joanna Newsom's second album, originally released on Drag City in 2006, features five extended tracks conceived with harp and voice, tracked by Steve Albini, and then meticulously arranged by Van Dyke Parks and Newsom. The album features strings, woodwinds and brass, as well as dulcimer, marimba, various percussive instruments, banjo, mandolin, electric bass (provided by Lee Sklar), electric guitar (Grant Geisseman) and accordion (played by Parks). To top it off, Ys was mixed by Jim O'Rourke.
