As one of the founding fathers of hip-hop, Kurtis Blow has been lighting up stages and studios since the late '70s. Kurtis was just 20 years old when he signed rap's first record deal in 1979, igniting a movement that now dominates popular culture. His heavily sampled second single, "The Breaks" became the first gold certified rap song and anchors his eponymous 1980 debut, a historic release which also features "Rappin' Blow, Part Two," the second half of Blow's 1979 debut single, "Christmas Rappin'."
