Ever since the release of his self-titled debut album, in 1998, Rufus Wainwright - once referred to as "the greatest songwriter on the planet" by Elton John - has remained a beguiling presence on the music scene. From more traditional singer-songwriter beginnings he has continually pushed himself artistically, recording the companion albums Want One and Want Two in the mid-00s. The stunning 2005 latter, culled from the same sessions, was nominated for a JUNO Award and serves as the darker sequel to 2003's Want One. Highlights come in the form of the sophisticated and personal "The One You Love" and "The Art Teacher" while guest appearances are made by mother Kate McGarrigle, aunt Anna McGarrigle and Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons.
