Never before in Rega’s illustrious history has the British hi-fi company produced a moving-magnet phono cartridge on the order of Nd9. Leveraging decades of engineering expertise and cantilever design, Nd9 offers exceptional performance marked by race-car-quick speed, pinpoint precision, and abundant detail retrieval. Accurate channel balance, broad soundstaging, and ultra-focused tracking are also among its signature characteristics. Like all other models in the Nd Series, it takes advantage of a neodymium N55 magnet -- the world's most powerful commercially available type.

Hand-made by Rega technicians in England, Nd9 uses a fine-line nude diamond profile mounted to a boron cantilever. This exceptionally small profile allows immediate adjustment to very small changes in the vinyl due to the small contact area of the diamond, resulting in operation that digs deep into the grooves and mines the finite nuances that help make analog playback so addictive. Nd9 also has an optimized pole gap for superior linearity and crosstalk characteristics. Last but not least, miniaturized parallel coils wound in-house with 38-micron wire with only 1275 turns to produce a low-inductance, low-impedance generator for superior high-frequency response.

Housed in a zero-tolerance, injection-molded, glass-filled polyphenylene sulphide body (PPS) whose light weight and low mass reduces stress on the tonearm bearings, thereby aiding in free movement, Nd9 can in the future be traded-in for credit towards a reduced-cost rebuild model with a new cantilever, stylus, and pivot pad.
