Drive Any Loudspeaker to Its Limits: Gorgeous Michi M8 Monoblock Power Amplifier Offers a Strapping 1080Wpc into Eight Ohms, Plays with Wowing Rhythm, Timing, Liveliness, and Dynamics
Get back to black. The Michi M8 monoblock power amplifier leaves no doubt about its statement-making appearance nor its ability to drive to full capacity any pair of loudspeakers you want to push to the limits.
Devised and engineered to provide no-compromise sound marked by abundant detail, tonal saturation, and dynamics, M8 supplies a heart-pounding 1080 watts into eight ohms — and a look-twice 1,800 watts into four ohms. Smooth, accurate, and relaxed despite its hammer-down power, it specializes in maintaining the energy, rhythm, timing, and liveliness in the original signal as it passes through your system. Seeking coherent, controlled, and contoured sound? Here's your ticket.
Measuring 9.375 x 19 x 18.25 inches (HWD) and weighing 130.3 pounds, M8 is no shrinking violet. The Class AB linear design leverages a gargantuan power supply that uses a pair of custom-made, low-noise, in-house-manufactured toroidal transformers. The latter are supported by four patented slit-foil, high-efficiency, low ESR bulk capacitors (188,000uF) to operate supply controlled, full, and robust bass even under the most extreme loads. An array of 32 high-current output transistors help reduce the stress on individual components, while spot-on acoustic tuning of all critical parts and a balanced circuit design help account for the kind of expressivity, refinement, and presence that put your favorite artists on an imaginary stage in front of you.
Built to luxurious standards, M8 features ultra-quiet slow-speed fans that vent through the back panel as well as cooling tunnels that invite you to drive it as hard as you like without concern. Five-way Michi-designed binding posts, IP and RS232 for control-system integration, and both XLR and RCA inputs complete the clean layout on the rear.
Like all of the reference-grade gear from Michi, M8 is finished with a sleek aluminum chassis with an elegant dark-black glass front panel and clean lines. On the dimmable TFT high-res display, you can choose to view a peak power meter or spectrum analyzer during listening sessions. And if the reviews mean anything, we think you’ll be doing a heckuva lot of listening in the future with M8 in the mix.
Sold with a remote control and five-year warranty, M8 could very well be the last amplifier pair you ever purchase. To learn more, give us a ring at 312-433-0200.
"Having the M8s in-house was a pleasant surprise and one of the most enjoyable visits made by any piece of audio gear that's been here over the past 21 years."
—Michael Fremer, Stereophile
"The presentation is rich, multilayered, and colorful, while at the same time maintaining coherence, correctness, and transparency. Nothing feels disconnected, artificial, or bloated. Bass performance stands out as one of the major highlights. It is highly layered, articulated, contoured, diverse, and above all, extremely well controlled."
