Go to Where the Music Lives: Monitor Audio Gold 100 6G Bookshelf Speakers Play with Neutral, Transparent, Dynamic Sound and Feature HDT C-Cam Drivers, MDP Tweeter, and Gorgeous Looks

The Monitor Audio Gold 100 6G bookshelf speakers hit you where the music lives. That's both according to an enthusiastic SoundStage! review and the sound this wonderfully neutral, smooth, and transparent model produces on all types of music. And just wait 'til you hear it deliver soundstages. Able to play with emotionalism and authority, it favors liveliness over clinical characteristics, managing to balance audiophile insight with let-it-all-hang out fun. Its mix of engaging sonics, quality craftsmanship, and luxurious aesthetics give it a leg up in this extremely competitive price segment.

Stocked with an MDP III high-frequency transducer, three-inch HDT C-CAM midrange, and eight-inch HDT C-CAM woofer, the 30.875-pound Gold 100 6G benefits from cutting-edge developments found in the company's Hyphn and Platinum Series — specifically HDT cones that consist of a Nomex honeycomb layer sandwiched between aluminum and carbon-fiber skins. They also use a hexagonal pattern to disrupt symmetries in the cone breakup. And complementary C-CAM cones deliver strong, fatigue-resistant elements.

Prepare to hear dynamics come across with stellar precision and tangible power. The speakers' cones' extensive voice coil length translates into exceptional linearity, reducing distortion for cleaner and punchier low end. Rigidly secured in place by a cast-aluminum, lightweight chassis, it provides the optimum structure with generous airflow around the drive unit. Through-bolted to the rear of the cabinet for improved strength of the overall system, the drive units produce masses of deep bass with low distortion and across-the-board control. The end result is a seamless link from low bass through the frequency range to mid and upper frequencies. Aided by a finely engineered crossover with high-end capacitors, the drivers blend smoothly with the MPD III high-frequency transducer — devised for consistency, clarity, and accuracy — for a presentation that reveals the crucial details and lively excitement in your recordings.

As for its appearance? The 17.83 x 9.0625 x 14.0625-inch (HWD) Gold 100 6G commands the room. Finished in either contemporary high-gloss paint or sustainable veneer, its cabinet screams luxury. The ported design uses a HiVe II port and through-bolt technologies. Complete with a five-year manufacturer warranty, Gold 100 6G features a wide-spanning 32Hz to 60kHz frequency response and simply needs a quality amplifier to drive it. "This is a very well-designed, built and packaged speaker from a company that is at the top of its game right now. It delivers a smooth, natural sound that is highly musically engaging and has good dynamics when powered by a suitably strong amplifier. The result is a great sound that many will like – which is just as well because competition at its price point is tough."
—Stereonet

"The result is a lively, captivating loudspeaker capable of outstanding levels of detail and resolution, consequentially providing deep insights into the music. So, in a small to mid-sized space, the Gold 100 6G will offer the discerning listener a room-filling, dramatic presentation which is charged with life and excitement. And that, my friends, is where music truly lives."
—SoundStage!

“The Gold 100 6G seems far more concerned with engaging on a purely musical level - they can do the ‘scrutiny’ thing, but it’s never at the expense of ‘entertainment.”
—Hi-Fi+

"The bigger design pays off to deliver one of the most enjoyable and insightful sounds I’ve heard in a long time. The handover between the three drivers is imperceptible, and although there were times when I missed a bit more bass depth, the midrange detail around vocals and instruments more than makes up for any feelings of being shortchanged."

New HDT, C-CAM Cones
Monitor Audio has been leading the industry in the field of metal driver cone technology for over 40 years. So, it’s no surprise that the new Gold Series 6G pushes the boundaries once again, with a totally new metal cone technology in the form of HDT (Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology). HDT draws on the design of the RDT III cones utilized in Hyphn and the Platinum Series, which consist of a Nomex honeycomb layer sandwiched between aluminum and carbon-fiber skins. The new HDT cone employs a hexagonal pattern to disrupt symmetries in the cone breakup, which shifts the frequency up by 10% compared to the RST II cones on the Silver Series 7G. The use of C-CAM over standard aluminum also results in a stronger, more fatigue-resistant cone.

Six- and Eight-Inch Bass Drivers
With the new HDT, C-CAM cone, FEA-optimized surround and spider designs, plus increased voice coil length, the Gold Series 6G’s six- and eight-inch bass drivers exhibit great linearity, reducing distortion for cleaner and punchier low end. Rigidly secured in place by a new cast aluminum, light-weight chassis design, it provides the optimum structure with generous airflow around the drive unit. Gold Series 6G drive units produce masses of dynamic bass with low distortion and total control.

MPD III High-Frequency Transducer
The result of an extensive development process to refine and achieve superb performance, the latest generation of Monitor Audio’s MPD III (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) transducer delivers precise high-frequency sound with breathtaking consistency, clarity, and accuracy. The detail achieved makes music sound lifelike, crisp, and real. Fine-tuned for effortless musicality.
